Receive thy noble guest

I was reading Eckhart Tolle's 'Stillness Speaks' and paused at this beautiful line that struck a chord in me.

"When you receive whoever comes into the space of Now as a noble guest, when you allow each person to be as they are, they begin to change."
I haven't known anyone else closely, except Dilip, who did this with such grace!

Partha, If you just read what different people have written about their experiences with Dilip at http://rememberingdilip.wikispaces.com/ you should get a fair idea of the person he was!

This is an extremely wise thought. I had a drawing teacher who behaved just that way in class. Even when students came in late she was totally present to them and acted as if she were greeting a deity instead of someone who was being troublesome and interrupting. It is sometimes easier to behave this way towards animals, since things are so simple. And an animal does change when you behave this way.
